Image Description: Point-of-care diagnostics offer a rapid way to test for diseases using various types of samples like saliva, blood, or urine. These tests help improve patient outcomes by providing immediate results in medical settings.
Industry: Healthcare / Diagnostics / Point of Care (PoC) Technology
Challenge:
The client sought a solution to advance Point of Care (PoC) sensors capable of diagnosing multiple serious diseases such as cardiometabolic diseases, HIV, breast cancer, and tuberculosis. These sensors needed to be non-invasive, cost-effective, and capable of analyzing blood and urine samples for early detection, especially in low-resource environments. The goal was to provide a diagnostic tool that was both affordable and easy to use for the general population.
Solution:
Nikalyte’s R&D team collaborated with multiple clients across the UK, leveraging our proprietary Terminated Gas Condensation technology integrated into the NL50 system. This cutting-edge technology enables the development of highly sensitive PoC sensors designed for disease detection using blood and urine samples. By working with our technology, the sensors are designed to detect multiple conditions, including cardiometabolic diseases, HIV, breast cancer, and tuberculosis.
Results:
While the project is still ongoing, we are on track to deliver an affordable, non-invasive, easy-to-use diagnostic tool for early disease detection. The innovative PoC sensors will make early diagnosis accessible to a broader population, especially in underserved regions where access to traditional medical diagnostic facilities may be limited.
