Gold Electrodes for Glucose Sensors

Industry: Biomedical / Sensors

Challenge:

Our client faced challenges with the performance of enzymatic glucose biosensors, particularly in terms of current transport efficiency and sensor sensitivity. Traditional electrode designs were limiting the accuracy and precision of the biosensor, especially for high-precision medical applications.

Solution:

Nikalyte provided a solution by developing nanostructured gold electrodes with gold nanotexturing, designed to enhance enzyme attachment. By using covalent bonding between the enzymes and the electrodes, we significantly improved current transport and sensor sensitivity. Additionally, our technology enabled the segregated attachment of a variety of biomolecules, making it possible to perform biosensor multiplexing on a single chip—an advancement for future sensor applications.
